Qualitea Ceylon seeks a Tea Manager for its Kandana location. You will lead the Tea Department, conduct tasting and buying at auctions, manage blending operations, and mentor a professional team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Tea Department to achieve quality, operational and commercial objectives.

• Conduct independent tea tasting, grading and buying at auctions.

• Manage daily trading and blending operations, ensuring consistency across product lines.

• Mentor, guide and motivate a team of tea professionals to maintain high standards.

• Work closely with Production, Quality Assurance and Supply Chain teams to deliver optimal blends and timely shipments.

• Analyse market trends and competitor activity to support strategic buying and pricing decisions.

• Uphold company standards for quality, traceability and integrity in all teas sourced and exported.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years’ experience in the tea industry, including at least 5 years in active, independent tea trading and tasting.

• At least 2 years at Assistant Manager level or above, or equivalent experience directly managing a team.

• Excellent knowledge of all Ceylon teas; familiarity with other-origin teas will be an advantage.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, develop and guide a team.

• Excellent spoken and written English.

• High integrity, sound judgement and a disciplined, detail-oriented approach.

• A passion for maintaining quality and consistency across all aspects of tea selection and buying.
