Advocata Institute operates as Sri Lanka’s leading independent public policy think tank, focusing on economic freedom and reform. The institute conducts research on public finance, trade, regulation, and governance to inform policy debates.

Advocata Institute seeks a Policy Analyst for its research team in Colombo. You will conduct economic and policy research, draft briefs and reports, monitor developments, and present findings to support the institute’s advocacy and reform initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Conduct high-quality research and analysis on economic and public policy issues.

• Draft policy briefs, research papers, reports, and opinion pieces.

• Support the design and execution of research projects, including data collection, interviews, and stakeholder consultations.

• Monitor policy developments, identify emerging issues, and provide timely insights.

• Present findings to internal and external audiences, including policymakers and media.

• Collaborate with the communications team to translate research into accessible public content.

• Assist with events such as panel discussions, conferences, and roundtables.

• Contribute to Advocata’s strategic initiatives and reform campaigns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Political Science, Statistics, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

• Strong analytical, writing, and research skills.

• Ability to interpret data and economic concepts clearly and accurately.

• Demonstrated interest in economic reform, public policy, or governance.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

• Prior experience in research, consulting, or policy work is an advantage.
