Konnectnet seeks a Marine Operations Manager for its Colombo operations. You will oversee ship repair and maintenance projects, supervise technical teams, ensure compliance and safety, and liaise with clients to ensure efficient and high-quality service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage day-to-day ship repair and maintenance operations (including afloat repairs, marine machinery & equipment repairs, generator overhauling, steel fabrication, container repairs, and port container-crane repairs).

• Coordinate and supervise work of technical teams, welders, fitters, and other staff to ensure timely, safe and high-quality execution of jobs.

• Plan, schedule and prioritize jobs across multiple projects and vessels to ensure efficient resource utilization and quick turn-around times, while upholding international standards of workmanship and safety.

• Ensure compliance with company quality standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.

• Liaise with clients (ship owners, agents, ship operators), internal management and stakeholders in the Group to ensure smooth workflow, transparent communication, and customer satisfaction.

• Drive continuous improvement — suggest and implement process improvements to optimize operations and enhance service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or a closely related discipline (or equivalent technical qualification).

• Significant prior experience in marine engineering / ship repair / maintenance operations — preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.

• Strong knowledge of ship machinery, marine equipment, steel fabrication, welding, hydraulics/electrical/automation systems, container & crane repairs, and general marine-engineering work.

• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and manage large-scale operations under tight timelines.

• Strong organizational, planning and communication skills; ability to liaise with clients and internal stakeholders effectively.

• Commitment to safety, quality standards and compliance with industry regulations.

• Ability to work under pressure and deliver dependable results in dynamic maritime environments.
