The Role & Responsibilities
The Global Graduate – Leaf Program is a structured, accelerated development journey that prepares you to take on future leadership roles. Over 12 to 18 months, you will gain hands-on experience across various aspects of BAT’s leaf and supply chain operations, supported by mentors and global resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Agriculture and Leaf Operations
Work directly with local farmers and field teams to understand crop cycles, agricultural practices, and quality standards that drive BAT’s supply chain. - Sustainability Initiatives
Contribute to environmental and sustainability projects that align with BAT’s global agenda, including water conservation, soil management, and green farming techniques. - Data Analysis & Reporting
Collect and analyze agricultural, operational, and financial data to improve efficiency and support evidence-based decision-making. - Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with farmers, suppliers, government bodies, and internal teams to strengthen relationships and ensure compliance with international standards. - Leadership Development
Participate in workshops, projects, and cross-functional assignments designed to enhance your leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities. - Global Exposure
Engage with international teams and benefit from BAT’s global network, giving you insights into global supply chain and agricultural operations.
Qualifications
This program is designed for ambitious, high-performing individuals who meet the following requirements:
- Education
Graduated with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Science, or a related field. Equivalent professional qualifications may also be considered. - Work Experience
At least 2 years of relevant experience in Agri-business or environmental sustainability is a significant advantage, though fresh graduates with exceptional records are encouraged to apply. - Academic Performance
A strong academic track record is essential, demonstrating analytical ability, discipline, and commitment to excellence. - Leadership
Proven leadership capabilities through extra-curricular activities, university clubs, or community projects. - Skills
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. Proficiency in English and Sinhala is expected, with Tamil being an additional advantage. - Personal Attributes
Energetic, resilient, self-motivated, result-driven, agile, and able to work independently. - Global Mobility
Must be willing to travel locally and internationally, as the program includes assignments beyond Sri Lanka.
