Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Design Engineer to join our innovative engineering team in Chennai. This role involves conceptualizing, designing, and validating mechanical solutions with a focus on SPM, reverse engineering, and custom machinery for the automotive and tyre manufacturing industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand customer requirements by conducting on-site visits and collecting design specifications.
- Develop initial concept designs aligned with client needs and application objectives.
- Utilize Autodesk Inventor (mandatory) or SolidWorks to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings.
- Supervise junior engineers and assign drawing/documentation tasks effectively.
- Review and approve manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and technical documents.
- Apply reverse engineering techniques to recreate or improve existing systems.
- Ensure accurate measurements and apply correct fits, tolerances, and GD&T practices.
- Maintain high standards in design documentation, ensuring traceability and compliance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BE Mechanical).
- 4 – 6 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design and automation.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor is a must; SolidWorks knowledge is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of fits and tolerances, mechanical components, and assemblies.
- Excellent documentation skills and ability to manage end-to-end design lifecycle.
